for Alzheimer’s Awareness… for mammy.
Mammy never really got lost in the fog
She felt safe because you were there.
She knew you
She loved you
She was your other half.
you maintained her care
you allowed her maintain so much of life
you were her “big bluff”
her i am fine
you maintained that for mammy for so long.
nobody else could have.
you tolerated the moods and learned to cheer them up
when mammy looked lonely you’d whistle and get a smile
she was happy daddy
this disease robbed her day by day from in front of us
but you were her guide
and you did it with love
with selfless love
you spared mammy the isolation the disease brings so many
will never be able to explain how much that meant to mammy
but will never be able to say how much it meant to…
